Greetings Webster School District,
The Webster School District Board of Education has placed an Operational Referendum on the April 7, 2026 ballot. The referendum is asking voters to approve $1,800,000 per year for 3 years beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of operational and maintenance expenses.
The School District of Webster has been able to maintain a strong financial health while sustaining quality student programming. Recently, along with many schools in the state, we have had increased financial constraints due to high inflation rates, rising insurance premiums, and the recruitment and retention of staff, just to name a few, have created deficits. This, along with state funding that has not kept pace with inflation for all Wisconsin schools, has led the School District of Webster to seek authorization from their communities to exceed the state imposed per-pupil revenue limit delivered in the state budget.
In an effort to maintain the current levels of quality student programming, strong facilities, and to increase our financial health, the School District of Webster must seek the community's authorization to increase the state revenue limit. The projected impact to the tax levy would increase to the mill rate $0.56, from $2.90 to $3.46, which is still one of the lowest in the area and the state of Wisconsin.
To stay informed, please use this website, attend one of our referendum sessions, or reach out to the district office anytime.
Sincerely,
