Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy!
Under normal circumstances, the District and its staff would obviously prefer to serve all students face-to-face. Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 public health emergency, we understand that a number of students will not return for in-person instruction and will subsequently receive instruction through virtual or remote means. Additionally, the District may implement a hybrid model of instruction including both virtual and in-person instruction to ensure the health and safety of our students, families, and staff if the need should arise. The recordings will then be available for those students who are learning virtually if they are not able to zoom into a live lesson but will not be otherwise shared or maintained. Please know, this is a work in progress.
As we transition to providing in-person instruction with a virtual or remote option, protecting the privacy of our students is of the utmost importance to the District. Under FERPA and corresponding Wisconsin Law, a student’s information is protected from disclosure to third parties. When recording the in-person lessons, staff are expected only to record themselves and will do their best not to record student names or images. Please understand staff will avoid capturing student names, images or voices to the extent reasonably possible, but limited incidental recording of student images, names or images may occur at times while recording a lesson for future use with students. These recordings will not be shared in a public domain but rather through our Learning Management Systems (Google Classroom or SeeSaw) which will limit access to only those in the classroom.
If you have questions or concerns about the recording of in-person lessons, the virtual delivery of instruction generally, or if you would like to opt your child out of potentially being recorded, please contact Maria Rosenbaum, Assistant to District Administrator to discuss your concerns and explore possible alternatives. We recognize that each student and family situation is unique, and we will continue to work with you in support of your child.
We value and appreciate your support and the opportunity to collaborate as we move forward!
