School Closing for Remainder of Year
April 22, 2020
With the Governor’s new Order our buildings are officially closed through June 30th. We’re disappointed that we won’t be seeing our students again this year, but we understand the need to ensure the safety of our students, staff and families.
Our buildings will be closed but we will continue to provide the best education we can through the end of our regularly scheduled school year on June 5th. Along with this closing, we will not be able to hold our face to face Summer School this year. There will be some alternative offerings available to our students, and more information on those will be forthcoming from the Building Principals.
Food Deliveries for our families will continue through June 5th; we are looking at possibly extending those deliveries to June 30th and will make that decision within the next few weeks.
Grading procedures will need to be tweaked for this last term. The Elementary will remain mostly the same, but students in the Middle School will be graded on a Pass/No Pass scale. A No Pass grade will be treated as an Incomplete, and students will have a chance to make up whatever work is needed to bring it up to a passing grade.
High School students will be able to choose between the Pass/NoPass and the regular letter grading system. We will be sending information out to the parents of our HS students in the next week or so with more information.
We are working to create alternative dates for both Prom (July 18th) and Commencement (August 1st), understanding that these dates will be dependent on whether or not the restrictions on assembling in groups are lifted.
I’d like to thank all of you for your patience, understanding and flexibility. This has been a real “learn as you go” process for those of us at school, as I’m sure it has been for you at home as well. We will continue to reach out to you as things develop. In the meantime, take care and stay safe.
